About me

(But really, it's about you)

When you’re pregnant or parenting, it seems like everyone has an opinion and advice.

What your trainer says to you:

No excuses! Do what you’ve always done!

What your OB says to you:

Don’t lift more than 15lbs!

What your friend says to you:

Kiss your pre-baby body goodbye.

What your mom says to you:

It’s totally normal to pee your pants after you have a kid. It’s the price you pay to be a parent.

And then there’s the misguided advice about exercise.

And the unsolicited horror stories about that time they gave birth.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Enough.

Postpartum Athlete Hands on Hips

What you say to you:

I want to have a baby. But I want to do it on my terms. And I want to still be able to run/jump/play/engage in general badassery once that sweet babe is earthside.

What I say to you:

You’ve come to the right place. I’m here to make you feel as important and valued as the gorgeous baby you are bringing into this world. I’m here to help you find your voice and live and birth on your terms. I am on a mission to make sure that having a baby is not the reason why you can’t go on to do ALL THE THINGS. You are a parent. And that’s a big important job. But you are also more than that. You are also YOU. And you matter.

What you really want to know- am I any good?

Yup. I’ve supported loads of people just like you through their transition from pregnancy to parenthood. I am a birth doula and certified pregnancy and postpartum personal trainer and I specialize in core and pelvic floor support. If you want to read some of the kind words my clients have written, click here. If you want to check out the alphabet soup of my certifications and degrees, click here.

Who am I?

I’m Laura. I am passionate about supporting people through their transition from pregnancy to parenthood.  I have birthed two babies and I am stepparent to one.

I’ve lived in 6 states and 2 countries and have enthusiastically called the Seattle-area home for the last 10 years. I’m a coffee snob, PhD-trained scientist, cat lover, runner and master procrastinator. I can never find my keys, I don’t fold laundry, I still put sprinkles on my ice cream. I like lifting heavy things and my favorite colors are pink and purple.

I am pro-science. I believe black lives matter, all bodies are good bodies, climate change is real and that womxn have a right to choose. And I acknowledge that although it shouldn’t be, womxn’s healthcare is political. Social justice and environmental justice are inextricably tied to inequities in maternal healthcare and outcomes. Wellness for womxn means choice and equity in healthcare for ALL womxn. If we’re going to work together, it’s important to me that you know where I stand on those things.

And of course, I also love all things birth and I’m an unapologetic pelvic health junkie.  Which leads to the next question:

Why do I do this work?

After my daughter was born, people told me I wouldn’t be able to run again. People told me I wouldn’t be able to lift heavy weights again. I didn’t believe them. But I also didn’t know where to look for support.

The frustration I felt spurred me to dive deep into the world of perinatal fitness, childbirth and pelvic floor health. As a result, I’ve become a personal trainer and birth doula, with expertise in pre/postnatal fitness, pelvic health, and childbirth. I want nothing more than to be your go-to resource for support during your childbearing year- whether you are navigating fitness, childbirth or recovery postpartum.

I do this work because I believe your experience matters. And great support makes all the difference. During the birth of your child. During the everything that comes after. There’s more to it than just producing a healthy baby. This is a chapter that you will remember for the rest of your life. I want to help you achieve an empowering and satisfying birth and strong postpartum.

Mom and kiddos

What is this place?

This is a place for people who don’t want to settle: For peeing their pants. For feeling disconnected from their bodies. For birthing on someone else’s terms. You matter just as much as your sweet baby. And here, we’re on a mission to make sure that having a baby is not the reason why you don’t go on to run/jump/play/engage in general badassery once that baby is earthside.

What if I’ve never exercised in my life?

You’re in luck. As a personal trainer, teaching people to exercise is my jam.

What if I have serious exercise goals?

I’m pretty excited about that too. I got into this business because I couldn’t find the support I needed to return to long-distance running and heavy lifting. I became the coach I needed and I would love to support you too!

I 'm loving this- What should I do next?

Whoo-hoo! Check out my personal training page. Or if you want to see up virtual meet and greet, contact me here!
